Raphael Block and David Field to appear at the Petaluma Poetry Walk, Aqus Cafe, Sunday, September 17, 2017, 6-8 pm

Raphael Block

Raphael Block’s poetry, infused with spirit, speaks to earth's call for a heartfelt response to our ecological crisis. He authored Songs from a Small Universe (2009), Spangling Darkness (2014), and Strings of Shining Silence: Earth-Love Poems (2017). Raphael’s lived on three continents, mostly living in London, and now in Sebastopol.

each crinkly leaf
each trailing yellow shamrock
or clover crown

each floating spore
swallow swoop
canopy of thousands dancing to the wind

each set of see-through humming wings
open-throated quaver
bright-spiked shoot

each fledgling oak
tottering on
its slender stem

scarlet neckband
draped round
golden poppy

each pair of gold-rimmed coupling beetles
sunbathing mottled rock
swan-winged scented iris

binds us to her loveliness.

David Field is a solo guitar instrumentalist who has a unique, romantic and flowing style with a rare talent to perfectly adapt his classical training to contemporary music.
